Chapter 10 - The Pandemic & Staff

Andrea has run the salon for 6 years on her own. The business has overcome and gone through so much. From staff members coming and going, personal effects, and covid 19.

Just before the pandemic, 3 staff members were taken on. Trainee hairdresser, beautician and receptionist. The salon already had a tattooist who rented a room. Covid 19 struck and the salon had to close. During this time the salon was re-vamped. They Restructured the running of the salon for covid safety regulations and to better the salon. They came back masked and visored up. This was a hard-working environment, but it was necessary so that the salon could provide services for their clients safely. The tattooist left due to difficulties caused by the pandemic. The salon then decorated, and rented out the room, to the lovely Rachel who specialises in aesthetics when she isn’t working as a midwife. The salon then closed again for a month in November 2020, worked a month up to Christmas then back into lockdown.

In this third and hopefully final lockdown, more changes have been made. The receptionist is no longer at the salon (due to the pandemic and finances), training and trying other ways to try and better the salon and the experience you receive.

This has been a difficult time for all. Although they have been there for their clients throughout these hard times. The hardest thing they have found is that they haven’t been able to give cuddles to those who have needed one.
